Japan is now boasting about the success of its strategy of buying off Palau, Tuvalu and other countries where government officials driving brand new Japanese SUVs are keen to prostitute themselves and their nations to Japan's obsession with slaughtering every edible animal that lives in the sea.
Of course, Palau officials are quick to deny they sold out to Japan, however, there is ample evidence that Palau's position on whaling stems from under-the-table deals brokered by ultra-nationalists and "yakuza" organized crime gangs that have muscled their way into Japan's global fishing, whaling and tourism industries. As concerned eco-friendly divers, we cannot reward the greed, stupidity and hypocrisy of Japan's dirty whaling whores when there are so many clean and beautiful scuba diving destinations in countries where protecting marine wildlife in more than a trendy tourism slogan. By boycotting Palau and actively campaigning against sleezy banana republics that get into bed with Japan, we send a clear message that lost tourism dollars trump Tokyo sex tours, golf club memberships, new SUVs and pricey Yamaha sport fishing boats (aka "aid packages"). We also urge you to ACT NOW and email protest letters to government and tourism officials in Palau who are colluding with Japan to block whale sanctuaries and reverse the ban on commercial whaling.
