SOUTH AFRICA (15 July 2001) -- Ocean Extreme has announced a free shark diving specialty course available exclusively to Cyber Diver readers. The specialty course will be taught by a marine biologist and conducted in the renowned shark diving area called Protea Banks. Ocean Extreme is committed to shark diving experiences that do not rely on feeding or baiting of sharks. The company has adopted the following guidelines for all of its shark dives: Do not enter the caves where sharks are resting in. When observing a "cruising pattern" by sharks in an area, DON't interrupt it. Never touch the sharks, although tempting, they are not pets. Skippers must respect other groups diving with specific objectives and should not dump divers on top of them. Minimize your movements and do not move fast and jerky. Also NEVER chase a shark from any angle. | | Rapid breathing causes a lot of bubbles that threatens the sharks. Do not "corner" or close in on a shark in a cave area or any resting/concentration area. As a Divemaster, when hearing a shark Cracking its tail, instruct divers to move away from the agitated shark immediately. Beware of flashing a light into a sharks eye.
