BIKINI ATOLL, Marshall Islands (28 July 2001) -- Bikini Atoll Divers, a division of the Bikini Atoll Local Government Council, recently announced that its new dive boat is up and running. Specifically designed for Bikini Atoll by local dive masters, "Able Baker" is 12.8 meters (42 ft) in length with a huge 4.5 meter (14.6 ft) beam that gives divers ample room for tech gear and marine photography equipment. To enhance diver safety, "Able Baker" carries DAN oxygen units and all of the crew and divemasters are certified as DAN O-2 providers. There is also a decompression station suspended beneath the hull that enables divers to hang on stainless steel bars at 9 meters (30 ft), 6 meters (20 ft), and 3 meters (10 ft). Divers can off-gas nitrogen more efficiently at 6 and 3 meters with boat supplied oxygen mixtures ranging from 50 - 80%. | | Divers can get out of the weather and store gear in the large cabin, which includes a clean spacious head. Fresh water rinse tanks are onshore at the dive resort, which pampers guests with air-conditioned rooms, hot-water showers and buffet style meals with plenty of fresh fish and produce imported from Hawaii, California and New Zealand. © CDNN - CYBER DIVER NEWS NETWORK |
