PUERTO GALERA, Philippines (4 Mar 2003) -- Action Divers has announced the successful sinking of a new wreck off Small Lalaguna Beach in Puerto Galera. The MV Alma Jane Express was scuttled and slipped beneath the surface at 9:30am on March 3, 2003 settling upright at a depth of 30-meters. "Getting big vessels to land upright is much tougher than it looks," said Captain Roscoe Thompson, CEO of Action Divers, Puerto Galera's leading dive operator. "Fortunately, everything went according to plan, the wreck is exactly where we want it with the upper deck at a depth of 22 meters." According to Team Action's tech diving expert and Diver Education Director Klaus Rachow, the depth and location of the Alma Jane makes the wreck an ideal place for experienced wreck divers as well as advanced training in shipwreck penetration. | | "It's not Truk Lagoon but the Alma Jane is an interesting Japanese commercial vessel and should turn on even experienced 'wreckies'. And it's ideal for divers who wish to learn how to safely plan and execute wreck penetration dives." The MV Alma Jane Express is a 60-ton, 115-ft steel-hulled cargo ship built in Japan in 1966.
