BRITISH VIRGIN ISLANDS (17 May 2003) -- When Duncan and Annie Muirhead designed and built the world-renowned Cuan Law and Lammer Law multihull liveaboards, they "layed down the law" on world-class, eco-friendly live-aboard diving. Some twenty years later, they're doing the same thing to professional diver education with the first IDC instructor-training program conducted on a luxury liveaboard. Based in the beautiful British Virgin Islands, Cuan Law will set sail in August with PADI Course Director Barbara DeClerque and a limited number of IDC participants who will have exclusive use of the vessel for a week. In addition to fulfilling all of the requirements of IDC training, candidates will have the opportunity to experience first-hand many of the responsibilities of professional liveaboard crew including supervision of boat-based diving activities. Space is still available for the IDC which is scheduled for August 24th-August 31st with the Instructor Exam following on September 2 and 3. September 1 is an IE Prep Day. The all-inclusive cost is $2,650, which covers tuition, diving, accommodations and meals for the 11-night IDC/IE program, all taxes and service charges. "With so many diving instructors conducting courses and tour diving activities from purpose-built dive boats, it makes good sense to move an IDC offshore," said CDNN dive industry editor Lamar Bennington. "Aboard Cuan Law, IDC participants will receive IDC training and enjoy the unique opportunity to learn about the day to day operations of a liveaboard vessel that sets the standard by which other boats are measured." | | Click on graphic, visit Cuan Law.
