TALIPAO, Philippines (18 May 2000) -- Five people were killed and more than 70 wounded in two bombings in the southern Philippines. On Jolo Island where the Sipadan hostages are being held captive, three grenades were thrown into a public market killing four and wounding more than 40. In nearby Zamboanga in southern Mindanao, one person was killed and more than 30 wounded when a time bomb exploded in a crowded bakery-cafe.
