JOLO, Philippines (22 June 2000) -- Two months after divers and hotel staff were abducted from Sipadan, their Philippine Muslim captors have finally issued their ransom demands. The rebels want $21m or $1m per hostage. Although the Philippine government is sticking to its no-ransom policy in public, privately negotiators are thought to be discussing payment for release of all or some of the hostages. According to some reports, the rebels have demanded $4.7m for the release of all five female hostages. © CDNN - CYBER DIVER NEWS NETWORK |
