SUVA, Fiji (24 June 2000) -- Too much is not enough for rebel leader George Speight.

Although the military has given in to all of Speight's demands, he has refused to agree to release the hostages within three hours after the accord is signed.

The military agreed to give up its plan to rule Fiji for three months and has accepted all of Speight's nominees for the interim government which is scheduled to take over in three weeks.

According to the Muanikau Accord, Speight and his rebel group were supposed to lay down their weapons, release the hostages and allow the army to remove coup supporters from the parliamentary complex.
