SUVA, Fiji (27 June 2000) -- The military has had enough of rebel leader George Speight's new-demand-every-day negotiation strategy. The military cut off negotiations with the rebels on Sunday and refused to yield to Speight's demand that his group be allowed to participate in the interim administration. The military has decided to proceed with the selection of an interim government without Speight's participation in the selection process. The new administration is expected to hold power for two years while they draft a new racist constitution that will exclude 45 percent of Fijians from occupying key government positions. | | Racism in paradise The rebels released four female hostages but have refused to lay down their arms and are still holding 27 politicians including Prime Minister Mahendra Chaudhry. © CDNN - CYBER DIVER NEWS NETWORK |
