HONIARA, Solomon Islands (4 July 2000) -- Fighting between rival ethnic factions broke out again in the capital city of Honiara. According to unconfirmed reports, up to 30 have been killed in heavy fighting between MEF and IFM rebels who rejected the election of new prime minister Mannasseh Sogavare. "Our organization will not accept the results of the election because to do so would be a mockery of the democratic principles and processes," said the IMF.
