TALIPAO, Philippines (20 Sep 2000) -- Two French television journalists abducted by Abu Sayyaf rebels have been rescued.

Philippine army soldiers found Jean-Jacques le Garrec (46) and Roland Madura (49) after overrunning three rebel camps in a military offensive that began on Saturday.

The Frenchmen have been driven out of the fighting zone in a military truck and are expected to be in Manila later today.

Another rebel faction is holding Sipadan dive instructor Roland Ulla kidnapped five months ago, American Jeffrey Schilling and at least 13 Filipinos.  According to unconfirmed reports, Schilling could be released today.
