TALIPAO, Philippines (15 Oct 2000) -- Some dive resorts have introduced special discount prices to revitalize the dive travel industry in troubled Fiji and the Philippines.

Although trouble in the Philippines has been confined mostly to Muslim areas in the south, dive operators and resorts have been affected across the Philippines.

In the renowned Puerto Galera dive resort area, Roscoe Thompson, CEO at Action Divers, has launched a "Dive Puerto Galera" special for Cyber Diver readers. The campaign offers divers 15-20% discounts on dive courses and boat trips. If you bring your own gear, boat diving trips will cost just $16 per dive (that's right--$16!!!). The campaign runs through Dec. 20, 2000.

Action Divers also sails the Thor Viking liveaboard yacht to world-class reefs in the Sulu Sea.  For one-week trips scheduled in April and May, Team Action will give Cyber Diver readers a 10% discount.

Fiji's tourist industry has been devastated by the ongoing political crisis and dive resorts are slashing prices to lure dive travellers back.

Ovalau Watersports was the first to introduce a special half-price buddy deal which offers a 50% discount for dive buddies on all courses and dive trips.  The discounts run from January 1, 2001 through March 31.

Subsurface also jumped in recently with a 50% off campaign on all of its diving programs.  The special rates apply to divers who book at participating resorts for a minimum of five days during February and March 2001.
