CEDUNA, Australia (27 Nov 2000) -- Dive equipment that has washed up on shore indicates that a missing diver may have been killed by sharks.

The diver, Danny Thorpe, went missing after his boat capsized about 15 kilometers off the coast of southern Australia.

Thorpe stayed with the boat while his companion, Howard Rodd, started swimming for shore. Over 24 hours later Rodd finally made it but Thorpe has not been found.

Officials have found marks on Thorpe's BC that they believe are consistent with shark attacks and will conduct forensic tests on dive gear and over 50 items that have washed ashore.
