ORMOC, Philippines (28 May 2005) -- The scuba diving deep wreck world record attempt on the USS Cooper in Ormoc Bay has been postponed 24 hours.

Surface support team manager Roscoe Thompson of Action Divers in Puerto Galera told CDNN the dive was postponed 24 hours to enhance project safety.

"In a final pre-dive meeting, we made several minor changes to the dive plan in order to enhance the safety of the entire team," Thompson said. "To keep everything as conservative as possible, we postponed the dive 24 hours so that everyone can get another day of rest."

The surface support vessel remains over the wreck and the descent line that will make the dive possible is still fixed to the USS Cooper.
