TOWNSVILLE, Australia (2 June 2008) — Two divers rescued off the coast of Queensland last month will host a party to thank the search teams involved in their rescue. Richard Neely and Allyson Dalton were rescued after becoming separated from their boat while diving off the coast of Queensland. They subsequently spent 19-hours at sea. The pair were plucked after spending a night in the water, with the couple subsequently selling their story to both the Australian and International press. They will now host a thankyou drinks in Townsville for those involved in their rescue, however the dive boat's crew has been left off the invitation list. The boat's crew has been accused of abandoning the pair and failing to raise the alarm once they noticed the two divers missing. Both Mr Neely and Ms Dalton have since traveled to the United States where they were interviewed across a series of radio and television broadcasts. The interviews are believed to have netted the couple up to $250,000. Celebrity agent Max Markson, who is managing the diver's story, said that the dive rescue team had ignored the pair since their rescue. "In the nine days since it took place, the owners of the boat have not been in contact with them at all to ask if they're okay or to express any sympathy or to apologise," Mr Markson told News Limited newspapers. "Plus, they've put repeated news releases out criticizing Rich and Ally so I don't think the people who run OzSail, I mean, they were very rude to me as well on the phone, I don't think there's much point inviting them to have a drink." |
