READING, Pennsylvania (5 Jan 2005) -- Fire officials say a scuba diver who was searching for a body in the Schuylkill River nearly drowned when she was swept over a dam.

Leslie Schlottman of Fleetwood, Pa., was carried over the crest of the Kernsville Dam late Sunday morning as she was helping search for the body of a Schuylkill County man who disappeared Nov. 28.

Reading Fire Captain William Stoudt says Schlottman was trapped underwater for about a minute before other divers were able to grab her rescue line and pull her to safety.

Schlottman was airlifted to Lehigh Valley Hospital near Allentown.

The divers were searching for the body of Keith Yoder of Ashland. Yoder's pickup truck plunged into the Little Schuylkill River near Port Clinton on Nov. 28.
