ST. PAUL, Minnesota (7 Mar 2005) -- The body of a college student has been recovered three months after he went missing while scuba diving in the Mississippi River. Nic Harter, 21, disappeared while scuba diving with friends at St. Paul's Hidden Falls Park on November 21, 2004. The group was trying to locate and explore a submerged automobile when Harter became entangled. According to local authorities, a fisherman found Harter's body still in full scuba gear on the banks of the Mississippi River about three miles downstream from the site of the scuba diving accident. As part of the investigation into the cause of Harter's death, police will check his scuba diving equipment for failures. Brian Harter, Nic's father, said that the family expected the body to be found. | | "There is closure (now) from a physical sense," Harter told reporters. "We needed that, and we believed it would happen." The family held a memorial service for Nic Harter in December. © CDNN - CYBER DIVER NEWS NETWORKRELATED STORIES MINNESOTA - Search for missing scuba diver scaled backMINNESOTA - Young scuba diver still missing near St. Paul ParkMINNESOTA - Scuba missing in Mississippi River |
