CANTERBURY, UK (21 Apr 2005) -- A popular young grad student has died scuba diving in Chile.

Paul Harris, 23, was diving with a group of fellow students when the accident occurred.

According to initial reports, the group participated in a morning training session and then the students were allowed to dive on their own in shallow water.

The exact cause of the accident is not known, however, a preliminary investigation found no fault with Harris's scuba equipment.

Described as a brilliant, friendly and popular student who stood out in a crowd at 6ft 7in tall, Harris graduated in space science from Kent University and was doing his PhD at university in Preston.

An avid but easy-going athelete, Harris was excited about the Chile trip because he wanted to see the Gemini space telescope.
