SEATTLE, Washington (6 May 2005) -- An experienced scuba diver with more than 450 dives drowned while scuba diving with his wife in Puget Sound south of Seattle. The victim, a 45-year-old man from Auburn whose name has not yet been released, was diving off Redondo Beach near Des Moines when he suddenly signaled to his wife that he wanted to ascend. After ascending to the surface and realizing that her husband had not followed her up, the wife descended again. At the bottom she found her unconscious husband, brought him to the surface and then to shore where bystanders and paramedics tried but failed to revive the stricken diver. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.
