Third fatal UK scuba diving accident in two weeks

AMBLE, Northumberland, UK (6 June 2005) -- Another diver is missing and presumed dead, the third fatal scuba diving accident in the UK in the past two weeks.

Nicholas George Jackson, 25, failed to surface from a dive on Danny's Wreck,  east of Amble in Northumberland.

After the dive boat 'Spellbinder' alerted authorities of a missing diver emergency, two RNLI lifeboats, three helicopters and the HMS Illustrious warship launched a coordinated search.

At the same time, the 'Spellbinder' crew organized a team of divers to search the wreck but they found nothing.

 

Police told CDNN Jackson was an experienced scuba diver but declined to give additional details about the scuba divign accident which is under investigation.
