PEMBROKESHIRE, Wales, UK (12 June 2005) -- A helicopter airlifted four UK wreck divers to a hospital recompression chamber after they experienced problems while scuba diving on the Lucy wreck. Four male divers were taken to Derriford Hospital in Plymouth after they ascended to quickly from the Lucy shipwreck, one of the most popular scuba diving sites in Wales. The Dutch coaster sank on St. Valentine's Day in 1967. Coastguard officials told CDNN the divers all appear to be in good condition and were "taken to hospital as a precaution." The expense of emergency medical helicopter evacuations are borne by the taxpayer and there is growing concern in the UK that diver training programs are inadequate. | | In just the past three weeks, there have been four scuba diving accidents in the UK. © CDNN - CYBER DIVER NEWS NETWORK |
