CHANNEL ISLANDS, UK (20 June 2005) -- A major seach is underway for a scuba diver who went missing off the Channel Islands.

The 66-year-old male diver from London was wreck diving off the dive boat Skin Deep and disappeared about 20 miles northwest of Guernsey.

French authorities are coordinating the search which involves a Frency navy helicopter, fixed-wing aircraft and a coastguard helicopter based in Portland.

The dive boat has returned to base in Weymouth, Dorset.
