FORT LAUDERDALE, Florida (21 June 2005) -- Police are investigating the mysterious death of a crew member of the Nekton Rorqual liveaboard. D. J. Pottorf, 34, died diving off Orange Cay in the Bahamas late Monday afternoon, however, the Nekton Rorqual did not return to base nor report the accident until Tuesday when the boat returned to base in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Witnesses aboard the dive boat told police Pottorf was free diving when the accident happened.
