Deputy DA dies in scuba diving accident near Carmel California

CARMEL, California (28 June 2005) -- The deputy district attorney of Yolo County in California has died in a scuba diving accident near Carmel.

Deputy District Attorney Frank McGuire, 50, died while scuba diving with his daughter. Authorities have not released any details about the accident.

McGuire worked in the Child Abduction Unit in the District Attorney's Office in Woodland California.

He started working for Yolo County as a public defender in 1989, then moved to the District Attorney's Family Support Division and on to the Child Abduction Unit which he helped to establish.

Colleagues described McGuire as a deeply passionate man who was dedicated to his work and family.

He enjoyed travel and scuba diving throughout the world with his daughter.
