Wreck diver dies scuba diving in Lake Michigan

WAUKEGAN, Illinois (19 July 2005) -- A scuba diver has died after wreck diving in Lake Michigan.

Stephen White, 50, was diving with a buddy diver at a depth of about 37 meters (120 feet) when he experienced problems.

A US Coast Guard vessel rescued the stricken diver and rushed him to the Waukegan Yacht Club.

From there, a Fire Department ambulance took the victim to Victory Memorial hospital where he was pronounced dead at 3:49pm.

The accident is under investigation but details are not yet available.
