Scuba diver airlifted to hospital after getting bends

ABERDEEN, Scotland (17 Aug 2005) -- A scuba diver was rushed to hospital in Aberdeen after getting the bends.

A helicopter the RAF base at Boulmer in Northumberland responded to the scuba diving accident near the village of St. Abbs, north of Eyemouth.

According to reports, the injured diver was a 34-year-old female who ascended too quickly.

The diver is being treated for decompression sickness in a hyperbaric chamber.
