Port Townsend man dies scuba diving off Tatoosh Island

NEAH BAY, Washington (20 Aug 2005) -- A man died while scuba diving with friends off Tatoosh Island near Cape Flattery.

Victor W. Porter, 58, was found unconscious after surfacing with an empty air tank from a depth of 56 meters (184 feet).

Two divers aboard the boat Porter was diving from administered CPR but could not revive the victim.

 

The U.S. Coast Guard launched a rescue boat from Neah Bay and carried the victim's body back to shore.

The scuba diving accident is under investigation by the Clallam County Sheriff's Office.
