Coast Guard searching for scuba diver missing off Ocracoke Island

CHERRY POINT, North Carolina (27 Aug 2005) -- The Coast Guard is continuing to search for a scuba diver missing off Ocracoke Island.

Richard Pryor, 34, of New Market, Maryland, was scuba diving with a tour group off Ocracoke Island when he failed to surface after a 27 meter (90 feet) dive.

The group was wreck diving off the Akyla dive boat owned and operated by Dive Hatteras.

Rescue helicopters based at U.S. Coast Guard Air Station Elizabeth City and Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point, NC. and rescue boats from Coast Guard Station Hatteras Inlet are searching the area for the missing diver.
