CHRISTCHURCH, New Zealand (30 Aug 2005) -- The scuba diver who got the bends diving in Cook Strait has been discharged from hospital. The 48-year-old male diver was being treated at Christchurch Hospital, which has a hyperbaric medicine unit that treats about 10 scuba divers a year. The diver was injured when he and his buddy were dragged down to a depth of 64 meters (209 feet) which scuba diving off Awash Rocks, south of the Brother Islands.
