BODEGA BAY, California (8 Sep 2005) -- A diver who went missing off the mouth of the Russian River has drowned. Mark Messmer, a 31-year-old resident of Sonoma County, was fishing and diving for abalone from a kayak when he disappeared. Messmer's friend asked a person on the beach to call 911.
