FORT LAUDERDALE, Florida (15 Nov 2005) -- A solo scuba diver died while scuba diving off a Fort Lauderdale beach.

Tourists on the beach saw the diver floating head down at the surface about 20 minutes after he entered the water.

Michael Lanigan, 37, of Boston pulled the victim through the surf and attempted to revive him with CPR while his wife called 911.

Paramedics arrived soon after and pronounced the victim dead at the scene.

The owner of Underseas Sports told police the diver rented a tank from his scuba diving center.
