CAYE CAULKER, Belize (20 Nov 2005) -- Operations manager Tony Reid of Discovery Divers blames the tourist who went missing in rough seas for the second diving fatality in Belize in less than a month.

Reid denies that the "Belize Pride" catamaran crew was negligent saying that missing diver John Dresp's "...skill level was maybe not necessarily as good as it should be."

Reid also denies that sea conditions were dangerous as reported by other dive operators in the area. "The conditions on that day were no different than they are normally," he said.

Authorities in Belize told CDNN that Dresp went missing while free diving and snorkeling with about 50 other cruise ship passengers including his wife and brother at Shark Ray Alley near Caye Caulker.

The tour was subcontracted to Discovery Divers Limited by Norwegian Cruise Line, owner and operator of the Norwegian Dream cruise ship.
