PORQUEROLLES, France (6 Jan 2006) -- The bodies of a Suffolk diver and her French diving buddy have been found off the French coast. Penny Glover, 41, and Jacques Filippi went missing during a dive on November 21. A week long coastguard search funded by the French government failed to find the missing divers, but M Filippi's family commissioned marine contractors Comex to continue searching with remotely operated vehicles (ROVs). On Thursday morning, the bodies were found by an ROV off Porquerolles, a French island in the Mediterranean. Both bodies were still wearing all their diving equipment when a police diving team recovered them. A spokeswoman for Suffolk Police said she could not confirm the news, which has been widely reported on diving community websites, where tributes to Miss Glover have been paid for more than six weeks. Miss Glover's family said they did not want to discuss the discovery last night. According to French police, the bodies were found 500m off Caramel Reef, the site they had been diving when they went missing, at a depth of 60m. They have since been officially identified and an official enquiry has been launched. Miss Glover was a qualified re-breather instructor and one of the British Sub Aqua Club's top divers. Her family, including parents Michael and Jenny Glover of Halesworth, who are in their 70s, are planning two memorial services - one in England and the other in France. | | Police believe as many as three bull sharks were responsible for a fatal attack on a young Brisbane scuba diver. Her sister and brother-in-law, Fiona and Jon Denny, flew to France last month to collect death certificates. Miss Glover was brought up in Toft Monks, near Beccles, and went to Sir John Leman High School. She earned a degree from Bradford University before working at the European Space Agency and then becoming managing director of a Canadian satellite company.
