California diver dies while scuba diving in Monterey Bay

MONTEREY, California (2 Feb 2006) -- Officials are investigating the death of a diver who died during a scuba diving trip to Monterey Bay.

Brett James Ramage, 35, an experienced diver from Elk Grove died while scuba diving in Monterey Bay off Lover's Point.

The Monterey County Sheriff's office said divemasters found the diver unconscious and pulled aboard the Monterey Express dive boat where they immediately initiated CPR.

The dive boat rushed the victim back to home port where he was transferred to an ambulance and taken to the Community Hospital of Monterey Peninsula.

An autopsy has been performed, however, the cause of death is still unknown.

 

Officials are testing Ramage's diving equipment.
