Helicopter rescues missing Maui diver

MAUI, Hawaii (3 Feb 2006) -- The Maui Fire Department's Air One rescue helicopter has rescued a missing scuba diver after a scuba diving accident in the Nakalele area.

The diver was reported missing at 3am Thursday by a friend after he failed to return as scheduled.

The rescue helicopter took off at dawn and spotted missing diver on a cliff at 7:09am.

A rescue firefighter was lowered from the helicopter and brought the diver to safety.

 

According to Maui police, the diver was diving solo.
