	Popular teacher dies scuba diving at Catalina Island Powered by CDNN - CYBER DIVER News Network by LUTHER MONROE - CDNN Safety News Editor LOS ANGELES, California (23 Feb 2006) -- A popular elementary school teacher died scuba diving at Catalina Island. Les Staats, 50, was a first grade teacher at McKinley Elementary School for the past 20 years. Dr. Ida Randall, the principal of the school, said Staats was a free spirit who was loved by staff and students alike.
