Boat propeller lacerates diver

JOHANNESBURG, South Africa (25 Feb 2006) -- A diver in South Africa was severely injured after being run over by a boat.

The man, 71, suffered severe lacerations to his buttocks.

He is in stable condition after being airlifted to hospital.

Witnesses said the diver was run over while spearfishing with two friends.

Officials with the National Sea Rescue Institute said the driver of the boat did not see divers in the water.

 

The injured diver was rescued by another boater.
