Man dies scuba diving off Kume Island

NAHA, Okinawa (2 June 2006) -- A man died while scuba diving in the East China Sea off Kume Island in Okinawa prefecture.

Yoshihiro Imamura, 55, from Yokohama was found floating at the surface at about 3:30pm soon after he descended on his third dive of the day.

Dive boat crew pulled Imamura aboard the boat, initiated CPR and notified the Coast Guard.

The victim was rushed to hospital where he was pronounced dead.

 

The Coast Guard is investigating the accident to determine the exact cause of death.
