NEW SMYRNA BEACH, Florida (2 Oct 2006) -- The Coast Guard has called off the search for a scuba diver who went missing off the coast of central Florida. Robert Martin, 45, disappeared while scuba diving with friends on Saturday morning. A Coast Guard spokesman said that Martin ascended to the surface, signaled for help but then vanished beneath the waves before anyone could reach him. The scuba diving accident happened at a popular dive site called "The Party Ground" which is located about 22 miles off the coast of New Smyrna Beach.
