ST. MARY'S BAY, Canada (16 Oct 2006) -- Ground search-and-rescue teams, coast guard vessels and helicopters are searching for a Canadian scuba diver who went missing in St. Mary's Bay.

The missing diver, 38, was diving for scallops from his boat.

So far, searchers have not found any trace of the Clare resident who was reported missing by a crew member.

RCMP investigators told CDNN they still have no idea what caused the accident.

RCMP spokesman Sgt. Michel Lacroix speculated that it might have been a pre-existing medical condition or equipment malfunction.
