HONOLULU, Hawaii (13 Dec 2006) -- Milton Oshiro loved to dive for tako, or octopus. It was his passion for the last 30 years. His favorite place to dive was in the shallow waters off Chinaman's hat, and that's exactly where his body was found at 7:30 last night, still tied to his boogie board. Oshiro's wife and daughter declined to speak on camera, but say they knew something was wrong when he didn't come home at his usual time. Oshiro's daughter went looking for him at his dive spot off of Kualoa Beach Park. She found his van still there with his slippers and towel inside, and his dive gear not there. She called 911, but friends and volunteers started the search and they were the ones to find his body in about eight feet of water. The medical examiner today says Oshiro had a stroke while diving and probably fell unconscious and then drowned. Oshiro's wife of 38 years says she always had a feeling he might die this way, but she says he would not have wanted it any other way. He lived for the ocean, the place where he felt most at peace.
