PLYMOUTH, UK (17 Dec 2006) -- A British woman was rushed to Derriford Hospital in Plymouth after a scuba diving accident in Whitsand Bay.

Brixham Coastguard officials said the woman made an uncontrolled ascent while scuba diving on the wreck of the James Egan Lane.

The woman, whose identity has not yet been released, was taken to Derriford Hospital as a precaution.

Located at a depth of only 21meters, the James Egan Layne is one of the most popular wreck dives in the UK.

The 10,000 ton American liberty ship was sunk on March 21, 1945 by a German submarine.
