HONOLULU, Hawaii (3 Jan 2007) -- A 35-year-old Japanese female on holiday in Oahu died while scuba diving with a dive shop operating a dive boat based in Heeia Kea Boat Harbor.

According to Honolulu police and fire department officials, the woman apparently suffered cardiac arrest while scuba diving.

Another diver who witnessed the scuba diving accident said the woman was diving near the Kaneohe Bay sand bar at about 12:30pm when she started to have trouble breathing and lost consciousness.

The dive boat crew called for help while they attempted to revive the victim with CPR.

An EMS unit arrived at the scene and rushed the woman to Castle Medical Center where she was pronounced dead.

Ambulance

Police said there was no evidence of foul play and an autopsy has been scheduled to determine the exact cause of death.
