AUCKLAND, New Zealand (6 Jan 2007) -- An autopsy will be conducted today to determine why a diver died while spear fishing in the Hauraki Gulf.

Paul Lewis Parkinson, 38, was diving off Little Barrier Island when he disappeared at about 1:20pm yesterday.

His family called for help and authorities deployed a helicopter, police boat and a Coastguard vessel to search for the missing diver.

At about 3:45pm, the search ended when the victim's body was found off the south end of Little Barrier Island.
