Diver's skull fractured by dive boat propeller

SYDNEY, Australia (11 Feb 2007) -- A scuba diver was airlifted to hospital after he was struck in the head by a dive boat propeller.

The 41-year-old male diver, whose identity has not yet been released, was rushed to Gosford Hospital for initial treatment.

The patient was then transferred by a NRMA CareFlight helicopter to the Royal North Shore Hospital in Sydney for emergency neurosurgery.

Police said the diver was injured at about 10am off Shelley Beach near The Entrance while resurfacing.
