TERRELL, Texas (7 May 2007) -- A girl drowned Sunday while scuba diving at Clear Springs Scuba Park.

Cassandra Hallmark, 16, of Caddo, Oklahoma, had just completed an entry-level scuba diving course and was diving with her father and several other divers when she encountered problems and panicked.

At about 11am, Kaufman County Sheriff's Deputies responded to a 911 call for help with a "missing diver emergency".

The victim was found at the bottom of the old rock quarry at a depth of about 15 meters (50 feet).

After rescuers brought the victim to the surface, paramedics started CPR and the girl was rushed to hospital.

At Terrell Hospital, the victim had a pulse and was then transferred to Children's Hospital in Dallas but she died there at about 9pm.
