POINT PLEASANT BEACH, New Jersey (11 July 2007) -- An autopsy performed Monday evening on a scuba diver who died in a diving accident in the Manasquan River did not reveal a definitive cause of death, according to a spokesman for the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office. Capt. Jeff Harper said Tuesday that the cause of death was "undetermined pending further investigation." Herbert Huhn II, 43, of Toms River was diving Sunday afternoon in an area known as Will's Hole, located off Gull Island County Park. Police said Huhn had been attempting to get a diving certification. Point Pleasant Beach Police Chief Daniel DePolo said Monday that Huhn had somehow become separated from his partner during Sunday's dive. He was taken to Ocean Medical Center in Brick where he was pronounced dead about 2:25 p.m. Sunday. Investigators said Huhn was diving with a company called Underwater Discovery of Toms River. Chris Holland, a shop employee with the company, said Tuesday that the incident had shocked the diving community. | | An autopsy failed to explain why a man died while scuba diving in New Jersey with Underwater Discovery. "This is just a horrible tragedy," he said. "Our hearts go out to the family and friends of Herbert Huhn. . . . It's a very sad thing that's happened."
