LAKE SPAULDING, California (6 August 2007) -- A man died while scuba diving in Lake Spaulding west of Lake Tahoe in California on Sunday morning. Richard Davis III, 56, was scuba diving near a boat dock at a depth of about 27.5 meters (90 feet) when he signaled to his buddy, Nicholas Griffin, 23, that he was going to ascend. According to Nevada County Sheriff Keith Royal, Davis probably ascended too rapidly, which can cause decompression sickness ("the bends"). Truckee Fire Department rescuers responded to the scuba diving accident but were unable to revive the victim who was pronounced dead at the scene as his wife, Deborah, 46, looked on. An autopsy has been scheduled to determine the cause of death. © CDNN - CYBER DIVER NEWS NETWORK |
