VOLUSIA COUNTY, Florida (20 August 2007) -- The search for a scuba diver who went missing in Florida has been suspended.

Ken Gessinger, 53, disappeared about 12 miles off Daytona Beach while he was scuba diving with his son.

According to the U.S. Coast Guard, during the dive Gessinger's son ran out of air at a depth of about 70 feet and both resurfaced.

The son made it back to the boat but as his mother and sister helped him climb aboard, the father disappeared.

The Coast Guard search lasted for 45 hours and covered an area of 429 square miles.
