PEMBROKESHIRE COAST, UK (8 Sep 2007) -- Two scuba divers have been rescued after being in the sea for more than nine hours off the Pembrokeshire coast. A search was launched south of Grassholm Island, 11 miles (18km) offshore, after the men failed to resurface on Saturday afternoon. They were winched to safety by helicopter at about 2215 BST and taken to hospital. A spokeswoman for Milford Haven Coastguard said: "The men are obviously cold but they are both alive." Two lifeboat crews from St David and Angle and a helicopter from RAF Chivenor were involved in the search, which was launched 40 minutes after the men were last seen on the surface at 1430 BST. Later, a helicopter from Ireland joined the search and located the men, who were taken to Withybush Hospital in Haverfordwest. |
